Hier findet Ihr eine Liste mit Fragen, die sinnvoll für eure Skype Gespräche sein können. Ich habe mir die Fragen ausgedruckt und neben meinen Laptop gelegt, damit ich immer eine Frage parat hatte! Generell solltet Ihr eure potentiellen Gastfamilien alles fragen was euch auf dem Herzen liegt, denn ihr werdet schließlich ein Jahr bei ihnen leben. 

 

So nun zu den Fragen: 

 

Questions to a host family 

 

CHILDREN

• What exactly should I know about your children: which hobbies, friends, freetime activities? What food and games do they like? What else should you bear in mind?
• What characteristics does your children have?

FAMILY

• What habits and hobbies does your family have?
• When are mealtimes and what does your family typically eat?
• Do you follow a diet, special eating habits?
• Do you follow a religion? 
• How long do you work?
• What do you do on the weekends?
• Will you be going on short trips together?
• Will you take me on a holiday? If so: what will my duties be?
• How do you solve conflicts?

EDUCATION

• What discipline technics do you use? 
• How do you react when a children does not hear?

HOUSE 

• How does the au pair room looks like? And on which floor? 

SCHEDULE 

• What will my everyday life look like?
• What will my tasks and duties be?
• What will my typical work schedule look like?
• Which days and evenings will I have off?

AREA

• Are there other au pairs around?
• Had you au pairs before?
• How far is your home from the closest major city?
• Can I reach the city using public transport?
• How far are Malls, shopping possibilities away? 
• What can I do in your Area with your children? Parks, Museums, Library?

OTHER

• What does you expect from an au pair?
• Is your current au pair german? 
• What role does the au pair have in your family?
• What are your rules? Curfew?
• How does it work for my cellphone?
• Would you be fine with me inviting friends over for visits?
